    my grand parents were depression era. dad was an eagle scout. uncle a farmer. friends were mormon. I thought it was normal ...

    ^ Living out in the country as a youngster it was normal to "prep". So I guess it's kind of ingrained with me. With the financial state of the country it makes even more sense to prep.

    Somewhat similar. Old Union IBEW (during the depression and forever) and NYPD, grandparents. Always saved this or that. One of my late grandmothers would make balls of soap from the small pieces she save, canned jellies from O'l misses Flynn.They never threw anything out, except trash of course. Flash forward cub & boy scouts (always prepared) With my ol man being NYPD too, you always had one eye open for the unexpected AND a plan IF something happened. Guess prepping for something or other has always been on the back burner.
