Default Any M1A/M14 gurus out there?

I am new to the whole M1A thing, at least compared to many of the M1A guys... I learned a lot in the below build, and have a nice gun, but probably should have been a bit more patient and just bought a Springfield.

Either way, I like building things and fiddling, so it works. The below is still due for quite a few additional modifications, but at present can shoot FAR better than I can.

    Anyone else out there?

It seems like most of the M14 guys are out of state, and I've read Khunhausen's book a few times. I have always loved the M1 and M14, and only recently have been able to afford to own an example of each. I don't think I have enough time to shoot a lot of high power, but I would like to try eventually. I am just curious if there are any local M14 shooters.

I haven't heard of any M14 armorers in the area or shops that can do good parkerizing, and I would like to get into high power... At least on a limited basis next year. Know of any good shops?

For me, the end goal is to become a better shooter and learn more about the gun. Sometimes it seems like the shooting community is kinda spread out, and it might be nice to meet/learn from some other locals once the white stuff stops falling.

This a PolyTech that has a Krieger spun on it?

Come see me for the Parking, I have a couple of AK's I will be doing in the next couple of weeks.

Jon Wolfe headspaced barrel and bolt.  LRB receiver and bolt with GI guts.  All other parts are GI parts from the best of two CMP Grade A kits. Yeah, I bought into the kool aid and probably should have just bought a Springfield. Still love the gun though!

I shoot high power with my M1A all the time. It is my only high power rifle. It's always nice to see other shooters at the matches who bring their 30 calibers out.

When I was shooting High Power I either used my issue 7.62 Garand (always loved that one, and the looks I'd get when I brought it out at the match!) or my SAI NM M1A. I used to shoot the matches at CRC until my right elbow tendonitis/bursitis ended my high power shooting. I have an LRB as well, with a Criterion barrel (1/10) and all GI parts.

I've been thinking about getting a Scout squad, or possibly a SOCOM, but if I do I'm going to replace the trigger group with a GI unit, the gas cylinder with a NM unitized GI unit, and (if it's a Scout Squad) put a GI op rod on. I don't really have anything against Springfield, but GI parts are just better than what they're making for the new guns.

I shoot-em quite a bit and have worked on them in the service. This is the modern version of the M1A/M14, its not everyones cake but i really love it and she proves it as i normally run this in 3-gun and other compititions. Ive taken this one out to 500yds with a Mk4 3.5-10x M2 with not problem, i feel i could make 800yd hits no problem
