What ever you can shoot that your department allows. Personally I carry my Springfield 45 long enough to get to my shot gun. May have to transition to an urban rifle. Not looking forward to that day. A shotgun gets respect in the most stressfull situation no matter what the crook is on.

Actually that's not the first time I heard that advice, and I intend to utilize that advice- so you can sit down now - I'm already quite a good writer from what people have already told me, and one of my deputy buddies said that is one of the biggest parts of the job and a good way to stay on supervisor and other superior's good list is being able to write a clear, coherent, and concise report every time, and everything they do has to be written in a report.

Thanks OneGuy- I'll be sure to study up a lot on the Revised Statutes for sure, and do you know of a good resource(s) to pick up Criminal Procedure Code, Criminal Rules/Constitutions, Criminal Procedure Guidelines and the Colorado Peace Officers Handbook?

Your best way to practice anything would be to get the mods to DELETE any post where you ever lost it , went off on your coworker (GFL mods) or agreed that taking a 65yd shot at a shooter was the right thing to do.

BG checks for LEs are not a 10min BG check for a hand gun, they dig deep. The psych eval is gonna kill you out of the gate, once they pull anything you posted off the web. IF you get that far.
One other thing (YEAH I KNOW SURPRISE) Your nose needs to be (as mentioned) deep in books, not bitchin about your Law instructor or how the parking at the academy sucks.
Other than that GL and shit can the glock.
