All three of those axe's have new handles on them. The double bit was my grandpa's father's, so I guess it could potentially be 100 years old; probably closer to 80 though. I've used it to chop at least a cord of wood.

I picked up the blue and orange ones at a garage sale for $5 each. The blue one had some cut off handle that I replaced. The side says Colins Axe Homestead, Lewiston, PA, USA. It is 2 1/4 lbs and I am pretty sure you can get a new one at Ace for the price it cost me to rehandle it. The orange one was just the head and looks pretty old and used. I cleaned it up a little and spray painted it orange. The house I moved into has a crappy axe sharpener hanging on the wall in the garage and it allowed me to get a decent edge on the orange and blue ones.

Any markings on the double bit?

Old Collins' were excellent tools. New Collins is cheap crap from Mexico. You are better off with the pricey wood and rehafting. 2 1/4 pounds puts it in the boys axe range. That's what I grew up using.

Sorry it took so long. Looks like there is a marking after all. Looks like it says PLUMB to me. EDIT: I looked it up and it seems like a quality older axe brand.

Plumb is one of the good ones. The square frame around PLUMB is an older logo. Looks like it could be close to 100yrs old.

Take a look here for way more info then you'd ever want/need.

I trades for this one recently. Probably from the '50s. Decent shape and HARD steel.
