I grew up in Sheridan. Not a bad town. Not a whole lot to do for younger folks though. It was awesome being able to drive 10 minutes to shooting areas though.

Everyone I know who's lived in Cheyenne hasn't been a fan. Though they all ended up moving here eventually. I wouldn't consider any of them to be outdoors type people though.

Laramie is okay. I have a bunch of friends who still live there after they've graduated from UW. It's just that though, a college town.

I work a lot up in cheyenne and Laramie and you couldn't give me a house for free in those towns.

Like others have said, Cody, Sheridan and Casper are decent

Ya cheyenne is full of liberals and scumbags anymore. Casper is better but not good. I wouldnt mind living near Riverton. Better hunting and fishing in WY, less BS, no state tax, less california liberals. If it wasnt for the wind and cold i would be there.

I've been looking for a place near Wheatland as I've got family there. I went to high school in Casper. It's grown quite a bit and has it's upsides but there's also a wicked drug problem. The other option for us is Sheridan as my wife has family in Montana so we could split the distance.

I tested for Rawlins WY police and while I was waiting for my interview I discovered that the public recreation center had an indoor firing range. That was an even better incentive to move there!

I live in Cheyenne and its ok, but as others have said, its windy, flat and pretty boring. The only good thing is having Ft Collins just to the south (35 mins) so when we want to go out with friends or have fun we go down there. EXTREMELY gun friendly though. State residents (or active duty military) dont even need to have a license to a carry concealed, just cant be a felon. I heard a stat from a cop that there are 6 times more guns in this state than people. Laramie county just built a really nice public indoor/outdoor range 5 miles east of Cheyenne southside of I-80...100 yard rifle range, 50 yard pistol/rifle range, 25 yard pistol/rimfire range and a 25 yard indoor range. They are working on a 200 yard, 600 yard range as well as a trap/skeet range too. Not that a shooting range is worth moving here, but thought I'd let you know about it anyhow. I am active duty military so I have no idea what the job market is like. Honestly, I wish we had bought a house in Ft Collins and commuted to work, but Im only here for a few years and will be PCS'ing somewhere else so for a few years its not bad especially since its close to CO. Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that there are lots of liberals in Cheyenne, but in the 2 years I've been here I havent met one. If there are any they hide very well which is fine by me.

    Cliff notes...

Pros: very 2A friendly, no traffic, no state taxes, very low crime (see 2A comment), no hippies, no liberals that Im aware of
Cons: windy, boring, houses are overpriced

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

It has to be good if it can't be posted publicly.

I own a house in Spearfish, SD. If things go bad here, I'll move my business up asap. Other FFL 07's have done the same.
