    Good find, i just left him a message to find out if it's fire rated. For that price, that could be the perfect stop gap safe for me.

    Thanks.

    No prob here are the specs for that safe:

    Specification:

    * Weight: 478.00 lbs
    * Outside Dimensions (HxWxD): 59.25"x24.00"x18.00"
    * Inside Dimensions (HxWxD): 57.25"x22.00"x15.25"
    * Gun Capacity: 8-8-16

    Features:

    * Black textured finish with bold zinc die cast polished brass logos, a rich velour back cover and fire walls with durable American Oak wood finish interior.
    * Brass Spy-Proof dial and "L" handle.
    * External hinges easily provide full access to your safe.
    * The LP6032, LP6030 and LP5924 offer fire protection of 1200°F, for a period of 45 minutes. Designed to maintain an interior temperature of less than 350°F.
    * Palusol door seal expands up to 8 times its original thickness when exposed to high temperatures sealing safe contents from harm.
    * High strength unitized 12 gauge solid steel body.
    * Massive 13/4" recessed door constructed of a 1/4" solid steel plate and a fire insulating material.
    * Equipped with a Group II, key-changeable combination lock with brass spy-proof dial and ring.
    * 3-way boltwork with 5 active 11/4" diameter chrome-plated steel locking bolts and three 11/4" deadbolts.
    * Each safe offers 4 precut anchor holes and 1 precut electrical access hole.

    I just did a search for the AMSEC LP5924W

    Here is a link to American Securities website: http://www.amsecusa.com/gun-safes-LP-main.htm

    The thing that I like best about AMSEC safes is that they use 2" of "DryLight" poured in concrete-type fire insulation between the inner and outer walls offer greater structural strength and superior fire protection than typical sheet-rock panels found on other safes.

    Twitchyfinger - I followed the link you posted & it looks like a nice safe (okay, "security container"), but it doesn't list the price.

    How much do those run?

    That particular safe runs about $800 online "sale prices" but you have to keep in mind shipping costs too from an online company. National Safe Outlet in Aurora is a AMSEC dealer and I talked with them today and was told they will be having a huge sale on safes in December if you are not in a dire hurry.

    If you do a search online for the model number you can find online prices like the:

    Sorry, Sucka. I just left the office at 7:15. Maybe I'll be able to escape earlier tomorrow.

    Like Sixgun said, Murdoch's aint cheap.

    Freedom Security by Liberty;

    Centurion
    -17 CF--$749.99
    -20 CF--$799.99
    -23 CF--$949.99

    Patriot 23 CF
    -Green--$1199.99
    -Black--$1399.99

    They also had a StackOn Security Plus '16-gun' w/ electronic lock for $399.99. It wieghed 182lbs and had no fire rating.

    They're running a sale that is $100 off safes over $1K and $200 off safes over $2K. They had some expensive monsters but I figured those were 'out of scope'.

    Thanks Gman!

    Much appreciated.

    Now comes decision time. PanamaDave gave me info on a guy who does the Tanner shows and i contacted him about the safe that closest met my budget as well as needs, but the one downside was it was an electronic lock. Maybe i'll head there this weekend and see what he has to offer in person. This is becoming a tough decision.

    And that safe twitchy posted for $200, the guy never called me back. I'm assuming that's gone.

    Thanks all of those who contributed so far
