I signed her up with a one year subscription with the NRA a couple of weeks ago. Last night I went with her to get her gun she had on Lay-Away and fill out the Back Ground Check, (1-1/2 hours to process it!) So we had plenty of time to pick out some shooting accessories. We had some good conversation with an off duty LEO from Park County. He was very helpful and confirmed some of my own thoughts on my Sisters gun and he had some good advice on personal protection. Here it is, what do you think?

Just remind her it isn't exactly "fun" to shoot, it's actually quite the opposite after 10-20 rounds. I pocket carry mine to and from work because it's super easy to throw in and out of the pocket, and i can't carry into work anyways. I wouldn't want to get into a gunfight with it obviously, but i think it would serve its purpose just fine against an attacker or 2. I'm not a great shot to begin with, but it's been a tough gun to master at the range. I think classes and practice are a fantastic idea.

Nice looking handgun. You should consider going to the classes with her. Not so much to learn for yourself (even though you might pick up a tidbit here and there), but to show your support to your sister and help her realize the importance.
I think it's great that you'll be getting her to the range with you too. The more comfortable she is with the gun, the better chances she's be able to shoot it "second nature" should the need ever arise.
