Worse- people eat it up, and allow them to say whatever they want. Something tells me someone, somewhere is doing it wrong- you're supposed to create criminals out of honest folks AFTER you rid yourself of crime...

You have no idea what they are capable of. Very well funded, incredibly nasty tactics, and zero oversight . . . some of the things they've done in the past made front page news nationwide, only SPLC was never directly connected to them. In a couple of those instances, I can understand why they did what they did and have little sympathy for the groups they used them against, but holy shit that is some seriously spooky shit they are involved with. Don't ever make the mistake of underestimating them as a bunch of hand-wringing, bleeding-heart pansies . . . they are scary and well connected. It is one thing to be on their list, but once you get on their radar and they focus their resources on you, you're in serious trouble. Fortunately, they mostly focus on high profile troublemakers who everyone hates (except maybe other hate groups).
