Hell, I'm going to take advantage of it. Gonna sell my AR for 3 grand to help cover my daughters $3500 Club Volleyball tab.....;)
Put me on the record as saying it now: You are partly wrong. Costs are not going up. If anything, they are going down. Here's the kicker: The US Dollar's value is plummeting - and it needs to. Several economists have proposed that the only way the United States could pay off the federal debt is to devalue the dollar until we have printed enough money to pay off our debt. [Bang]
I think you're right about this: the manufacturing base and supply chains are much more fortified than they were 4 years ago. Production of AR-15 parts and accessories is easily 5x more than it was in 2008. Look at the number of Pmags available now and how the prices have dropped over the past year. Windowed PMags used to be $20 each, now you can find them for as low as $12 each. Palmetto State Armory has been growing explosively and most companies have been able to keep most things in stock lately.
I also think you hit the nail right on the head with this one. In Chicago last year, the only thing that prevented a local $.05/rd tax was the fact that some ammo (such as .22LR) costs less than $.05/rd to begin with. This was the first attempt of many, and this threat will not be going away.
Freedom Munitions asked people to calm down last night as they were being overrun with orders.
A word from the front lines... at The Firing Line, there has NOT been a mad purchasing rush.... yet. Immed after the last election, there was. The phones are pretty crazy, lots of people asking questions, but that's all. There will be no gouging at Firing Line.
Same for other stores i have called. Normal day with a slight up tic for purchases.
Outside of available funds at what point in time did you realize you needed to "Stock UP" on guns and ammo??? The mad rush to spend money when hopefully you have been prepared is amazing.
Unfortunately for me, this time of year is when I have money to spend on stuff like this. Not good timing. But just because I have firearm funds now doesn't mean I will be buying anything at gouging rates. I don't need anything...just want. My money will stay in my pocket if/when prices get stupid.
So, with the Republicans holding on to the House -- what can he really pass....for at least the next 2 years? They can easily defeat an outright AWB bill for now.
My concerns is, what happens in the Colorado Legislative? Are they going to pursue a Colorado law now that they have a majority?
You're talking about someone who has already told Congress to go do themselves. He doesn't think he needs a legislative AWB if he can issue executive orders that have the same effect. After yesterday, Harry Reid has a wider cushion to block any Republican attempts to mitigate Obama's actions.
People are causing this not the election. This is a "demand > supply" issue.
Just got back from Sportsmans Warehouse and Walmart.
SW was busy, people buying ARs and ammo.
WM was busy before I got there, clerk said a guy came in around 8am and bought almost $900 worth of ammo and it had been steady all day.
used gun prices haven't risen...picked up a g21 gen3 today for 450...ok price.
*dusting off this thread*
Well, I guess this did indeed happen. How sad, huh? Just takes the mention of Gun Control and all the sheeple go into a feeding frenzy at the gun stores. Bunch of libs go buy guns cause even they hate the idea of being disarmed, etc. I just hope nothing passes, and this all dies down.
^^^ +1
It'll be so funny if nothing happens for the people that bought these $3000 DPMS AR15's, and $100 PMags....
...sorry... I'll just keep my mouth shut... [dig]
Its going to be even funnier when that $3k DPMS is $5k ,lol.. JUst like when we thought gas prices would go back to normal..
Flash forward 3 months and i read this from 11/7. Who would have thunk it eh?

Thankfully, I think the manufacturing capacity has been increased dramatically thanks to the major increase in $$ firearms manufactures have seen in the last 4 years. However, I do expect some panic buying to set in again.
