When dealing with adults, there is only so much you can do. Eventually you just have to back off at the risk of ruining your own life as well. Crazy people will drag you down with them. They are very difficult to help as much as you want without risking yourself.

I know I will get flamed for this, but he was probably a good candidate for a red flag if the family was truly concerned and would have acted. Of course, monday morning quarterbacking is easy in a case like this, and doesn't mean I support broad spectrum red flags.

Well, the family clearly stated he had mental issues. The sister in law also clearly stated she saw him playing with what looked like a machine gun. Um. Yea. Somebody should have acted or said something to authorities.

Just an fyi that when the suspect was taken from the hospital to the jail the officers used Eric Talley’s handcuffs on him.
