The previous arrest record, reference to a white van in the store parking lot with ordnance inside, plus the physical appearance extreme similarity caused no doubt in my mind at the time. He brought it upon himself by taunting the PD after the shooting.

OK, so he was definitely calling/taunting the police during the investigation? Just wondering because I had posted that his name was on the scanner and he could be the suspect and some asshat I know was trying to claim that I had labelled an innocent person.

Well this is interesting and kinda disturbing...

We used to live off 64th and Ward in Arvada. One of our favorite restaurants to get carry-out dinner on Friday or Saturday night was "The Sultan Grill" right next to Faith Bible Chapel.

Guess what family owns and operates "The Sultan Grill".

Just speculation on my part based on very limited information I've read about what the family has said regarding this turd's actions... But they don't seem to be on board with what he did at all. Not the typical "my baby din do nuffin" kind of stuff, anyway. My guess is they just want to run their business and make a living for themselves. My other guess is they'd be quite happy had this never happened.

But...I don't really know.

Speaking of a family, it reminds me of youtube shooter Nasim Najafi Aghdam's parents. Nasims parents called the police back to stop his daughter from doing possible stupid stuff.

I have no doubt the family preferred this didn't occur. It was just a bit jarring that the shit bag who committed this act had direct ties to something we loved and patronized. I always wonder if the people who surround individuals like this often put-on blinders that block their own observation of the perp's descent into dangerous levels of radicalization/depravity/derangement.

History note: There was a domestic at the north avenue, grand junction city market years and years ago (20+) which is Kroger. Ex-something dragged a cashier out by the hair "I'm going to kill you b****" type of situation, most people stayed back, two bystanders tried to intervene in the parking lot IIRC, one of them managed to get an arm on the hand/gun but didn't fully commit (unfortunately) and it ended up with the woman, the Samaritan, and the ex-whatever all dead (suicide IIRC), I forget if the other bystander was hit or not. Obviously not related, but sometimes you just never know when a normal day at the grocery store is going to turn to shit.

All four people died including both Samaritans.

I remember that well and it caused me to think for a long time, "what would I do if I was there at the time"? I was in that store regularly selling/delivering fruit. The year before I had taken a ccw class and was shooting monthly at the DOW range. I thought it was nuts that the two men intervened when the perp was carrying a pistol, although the first, maybe both, might not have known the man had a gun. I began carrying a rifle (locked) in the truck.

Here are two accounts of the incident, the second includes an article by Ari Armstrong tying it to the shall issue efforts at the time. I later participated with Ari's father in a first responder training with MCSO and other agencies.
