One more vote for the Sheriff.
Depends on where you live. Good rule of thumb. Who responds to your location first? Usually in a larger town it is pd. Some smaller towns contract with the county sheriff for law enforcement.
The ATF website has the forms.
Just don't come back here and ask exactly how long it takes for them to process the application...

I've been putting off getting a C&R for years. Just what I need, the ability to buy MORE old guns, even cheaper, and shipped right to my door with no FFL bullshit. The process I followed to obtain my C&R is below. If you have need any help just shoot me a PM.

2. Order ATF form 5330.20 Certificate of Complaince from the ATF distribution center above or download from the link above

4. Send the Copy 2 of the 7CR in the mail to your CLEO with a letter stating this is just for his/her reference as required by federal regulation and no action is required
5. Mail Copy 1 with a check for $30 and the Certificate of Compliance to the address on the form
6. Receive Type 03 C&R FFL in 6 -8 weeks

Thanks guys for the help. I applied Oct 29 and was approved Nov. 15th, mailed on Nov. 16. Still waiting on the license but the big packet came on Monday.

5310.16 and 5330.20
When I downloaded the form from ATF, saved it and enabled editing (upper right corner i believe)...I just had to fill in the top part of 5310.16 name/address/etc..and it automatically filled in the 2nd area that you have to send to your Chief LEO.
I think I also tried typing it in and it was blank. You might just start over, make sure you don't tab into that area or click in that area and it should fill it out..save it and print off. Hopefully that helps you, if not maybe someone else has an idea.
Just don't click to the forms from other peoples websites..sometimes they are linked to older copies of the forms..there is even a warning on ATF about them getting older forms in, then it just prolongs the process.
Got my C&R FFL in the mail on the 19th March. I sent it in around the 15th of Feb.

OK, I sent my forms to the ATF yesterday and I have the copy 2 ones in a folder. Do I drop them off at Arapahoe County Sheriff today or do I wait until I get my license in the mail?
Just mail to the sheriff with a cover letter that quotes the instructions...something like: "Please find enclosed Form X, notifying you of my application to BATFE to obtain a C&R".
