Default Got a response from Regal Entertainment Group...

So last week, following a startling discovery at the Colorado Mills Regal Cinema that the company, much like Century Entertainment Group, doesn't allow concealed carry (or any weapons). So I wrote a nice, friendly email (silly me, I didn't copy the text and save it and they didn't include the original email) that I thought was well worded and logical addressing the fact that these policies are partially responsible for the multitude of shootings we see (gun free zone logic there).
Here is the response I received from them:
    Dear Mr. [Ronin] :

Thank you for taking the time to communicate your concerns regarding our facility security policies. Please understand that Regal Entertainment Group, with the assistance of safety experts and law enforcement personnel, has developed policies and procedures designed to provide the safest environment for our guests and employees. Rest assured these policies and procedures are not designed with the intent to inconvenience or otherwise cause hardship to our guests. However, we believe these policies appropriate to assure the general safety of all guests and employees.

Please note all law enforcement officers, whether on or off duty, are exempt from our gun prohibition policy in the theatre, as long as they identify themselves as such either by display of a badge or other identification upon request.

Again, thank you for taking the time to advise us of your concerns.

    Sincerely,
    Customer Relations Department
    Operational Services
    Regal Entertainment Group

Safety "experts" huh? That doesn't sound like very good expert advice, and surely they must be using NYPD higher ups to give them advice on their policies, most LEOs I know would prefer a CCW holder instead of a bunch of unarmed fish in a barrel. And I don't feel very goddamn safe without a means to defend myself on my person! Sorry, kind of channeling Jim here, but this really pisses me the fuck off! It's too bad the GF loves going to movies, it's awful hard to tell her I refuse to go somewhere where I'd be an easy target if something bad were to happen. I'd rather be shooting back instead of cowering and hoping I or my loved ones don't get shot. Then again, I could always follow the "Concealed means concealed" mantra...

I'm not surprised by their reply at all.

By the way, If you want the original body of your email, it's in your sent items folder....

exactly... but if you can go somewhere else, do. I'd rather not support those businesses while putting myself at risk.

No one will ever successfully legislate away my God given right to self defense.
If someone somehow discovers that you are carrying, the most the management can do is ask you to leave. You leave. No problem.

I carried for 5 years while under a civil restraining order from a psycho divorce. Thankfully, I never had to draw my weapon and do federal time, but I am not about to be a helpless target just because of some bureaucratic liberal feelgood nonsense. At least I had a fighting chance to stay alive and to protect my family if the need arose.

It was on their website- "contact us"- one of those fill in the form type of emails. Believe me, I checked my sent items and then remembered that I didn't send direct email.

Well it was my GF that pointed it out- the notice is at the ticket window and it's so small I felt like I needed reading glasses to see it. So no, I didn't see any signs.

That stuff always tears me up.

On the one hand, I really support private property owners and businesses being allowed to run their stuff however (smart or dumbass) way they want.

On the other hand, those policies are based on fear-mongering and wrong thought, and they do take away a good method of defending yourself.

In an ideal world, I'd like to see private citizens reward or punish businesses with money/lack of money for stuff like this, but I know it's hard.

What if there was some kind of reverse Foursquare app, where instead of checking in (which I find super creepy), it warned you if you were near or entering a business that was anti-2A? That would be pretty awesome.
