I'm a product of the 80's so my answer is "duh". (yes)
The nightstand and ccw rig is never unloaded unless I'm cleaning it or rapidly reloading. Long guns however, are not loaded unless I'm at the range. A handful of mags are, and they live in the safe with the long guns...

If it's on my person for CCW then it's loaded. Bedside pistol has a mag in but no round chambered and the shotgun has rounds in the pistol safe on the nightstand. Guns in the safe have loaded mags next to them or on the shelf right above the rifles. Still have a 16 year old, so I'm not wanting to risk the whole minor having access to a loaded weapon deal that can land me in jail or getting sued. I trust the wife's kids since I take them to the range, took them to hunter's safety and have promised a severe ass kicking if they touch a gun without an adult around. It's their friends that I know come from liberal households and if they saw a gun would either go tell their parents that evil guns are in the house and it's unsafe or they'd pick one up and blow their own head off somehow.
