Poor cop? Really? Are you trolling? Maybe I'm abnormal, but I think the loss of the girl's life is the key issue; and I'm sure her loved-ones don't consider the situation "unfortunate", nor do most college girls think about arming themselves.

Cop shot 8 times, killed the victim and not the perp. Has to live with that the rest of his life. Doubt there is much more to it than that.

    They both were killed.

ETA: Out of pure curiosity, I wonder which of the 8 rounds hit the girl.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

    Nope,
right there with you, but I believe that there is enough blood and blame to go around.
its not just the cops fault, but he and all of his ilk share the blame in varying degrees. (see list above)

for clarification, so I don't get accused of cop bashing, again... this refers to ALL New Yorkers, Not just Law enforcement officers.

I would like to point something out here, directed at no one in particular on the forum, other than a great number of people. When the government spends tons of money on equipment, training, and ammunition the people seem to get upset and say, "the police act too much like the military" and "they don't need all of that" and "waste of tax payers dollars." But when the government messes something up all I hear is, "they need need more training" but what you are really also saying is they need more training, equipment, and ammunition. We all shoot guns here, so lets face it. If we want them to be more trained then they need those things and probably new training from people who know what works, like anti-terror groups such as SF, who will train them to be accurate shooters with hostages under stressful situations. But we all know we don't want them acting like the military. Pick a side already!

Who said "poor cop" besides RedDog? And he was being sarcastic in case you missed it.

Why is wrong to feel sympathy for the officer for the situation he was placed into in addition to the victim? I seriously doubt he's OK with what happened.

Once again, the membership doesn't disappoint. Happens like clockwork any time an incident like this happens.

Victim Dead, but that's just unfortunate.

Lets all have a sympathy party for the cop who shot her becasue he may have the boo-hoos

    ok sure. that seems reasonable.
