Most of the functions that the government does now could easily be performed by private enterprise or in the case of a very few, state level government.

"The shutdown, the first since the winter of 1995-96, closed national parks, museums along the Washington Mall and the U.S. Capitol visitors center. The Smithsonian website displayed a red banner noting that "all Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo are closed."

I haven't visited any of those places since my 7th grade school trip. I hope they stay closed, save the tax payer some $$$

No promise on that. In the past it has happened that way, but we live in different times.

Oh, I bet they get paid, precedent was set decades ago. Since when does economic reality affect the operations of the federal government. They are inflating their running budget from air every month.

So I have a pending order ready to deliver to the GSA in Denver for $1,800.00. I've paid all my vender and employees for the materials and fab work. Now I can't deliver and get paid. Spoke with someone down there about how I'm going to get paid and they laughed and said they were shut down, nothing they can do. ha ha real funny.

I'd expect you have to treat them like every other nonpaying SOB out there, sue/file a lien eventually.

Well, admittedly, the 27th Amendment would prevent such an impact (at least for the present Congress. They could do something to impact a future one perhaps). http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst_Am27.html

As for the shutdown, sure hasn't affected me any. (Almost (but not really) wish my company was a gov't entity; Terraria came out with an update last night, and I want to play! lol)
