I think you'd put yourself in a pretty tough position if you forced your way out of your own car. You basically forced your way INTO a situation. I recommend driving a few feet away to give you time to exit your vehicle peacefully...then deal with whatever situation after that.

I hate how the accelerators stick on Toyota's.

I was thinking something like this. Mine was toes smashed when I back up to pull away from curb. That powerstroke makes for a heavy front end.

IMHO, you are wrong. What they are doing is unlawful restraint/false imprisonment and you have every right to resist.

It's not unlawful restraint when you can just drive away.

They are restricting your (my) movement. If I want to exit my vehicle and they prevent me from doing so, it's unlawful.

The unlawfulness of their actions is not in question. Taking any action other than driving away is what is in question.

I guess we'll just have to disagree. If someone is going to forcibly restrict my movement unlawfully, they will assume responsibility for the hurt they bring upon themselves.

As much as I would be tempted otherwise, I would agree with Irving. What they are trying to do is goad people into escalating the situation to show off our supposed violent nature. They may be in the wrong, but starting a physical altercation would put you in a worse spot. Call the cops and drive forward a bit. Then just move on with your life and leave the petty people behind.

Crack the window and let the pepper spray fly. For all you know, they were trying to car jack you.
