Exactly. Most cops that I've known don't want their gun rights impinged on, but could care less about the citizenry.

Default PoliceOne's Comprehensive LE survey on Gun Control

Today I stumbled across something that made me grin on PoliceOne.com:
PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives

In March, PoliceOne conducted the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on the topic gripping the nation's attention in recent weeks: gun control.
More than 15,000 verified law enforcement professionals took part in the survey, which aimed to bring together the thoughts and opinions of the only professional group devoted to limiting and defeating gun violence as part of their sworn responsibility.

Totaling just shy of 30 questions, the survey allowed officers across the United States to share their perspectives on issues spanning from gun control and gun violence to gun rights.
    Top Line Takeaways
Breaking down the results, it's important to note that 70 percent of respondents are field-level law enforcers — those who are face-to-face in the fight against violent crime on a daily basis — not office-bound, non-sworn administrators or perpetually-campaigning elected officials.

So the takeaway from all this- if a pooling of 15,000 officers can give us an idea of what police generally feel across the board- most are pretty logical and align with our beliefs. Of course, this is nothing new to me, as I've known for the most part that LE tends to be supportive of 2nd Amendment rights and freedom. I just thought this was pretty cool and would make for some good discussion.

What would their thought be if one of their brothers got killed by a gun owner who's deemed mentally unstable while trying to confiscate his guns?

I know several officers when they were on active duty who did not believe that civilians should have the right to carry and or own semi auto so called assault rifles. But boy when these guys retired and they had to follow the same laws as those of us their tunes changed. But glad to see the majority have good views.

    My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.

If you look through all of the survey results then you find that:

56.7% of officers support some form of mandatory safety training before being able to purchase all or some types of firearms
59.0% think that open carry is misguided in practice or believe that the concept and practice is a bad idea

Do you still like this survey?

They should teach firearms safety and general law to all children in the schools.
