It is mostly (more than half) ficticious. Lots of events were changed by Hollywood from what really happened.

Definitely, but the major points like the incident with the goat herders weren't.

Did anybody else catch Marcus Luttrell as an extra in a couple of the scenes? I had to do a double take.
