This is an interesting point. I might be too opinionated, or just different in how I form my own opinions.
If I need to know whether I should run a 4-3 or 3-4 defense, I'd be curious of his opinion.
Gun stuff? He's just as influential to me personally as Piers Morgan. Or Philip Seymour Hoffman. Or Tom Cruise. Or Richard Sherman and Pete Carroll.
But the interesting part is the bolded. If you are on the fence, or "a big anti" and suddenly it was John Elway who swayed you, do we want this person advocating for our side suddenly? Other than their simple vote, my initial reaction is not. I want the "we" you describe above. Although I do like that maybe they do re-evaluate, so…Maybe. But I want them to come to their own educated conclusion rather than blindly following someone else. Especially a celebrity.
Even if he didn't, he may just be sort of a Fudd who doesn't care all that much.
I enjoy shooting a lot.
If I were just silly wealthy, I might not shoot at all (or care at all) as I spend my life worthlessly chasing sportscars, exotic vacations, the perfect beer, etc, etc, etc.
