Yeah, this. Ebola is just around the corner so we may as well get some tangible assets in the pantry and safes. I was extrapolating possible infection spreads from the flight info this morning and decided to forego some investing and focus on immediate family protection/supplies etc.

This is the most legitimate reason to "bug-in" I've ever had in Colorado. It's been said before, but it's worth saying again: You can't eat gold, silver or lead. This might be a good time to make a costco run... before everyone else does.

Good point, they have large bags of rice and beans and they usually have a decent stock of freeze dried 'survival' food.

Anyone here play the IOS / Android game Plague Inc.? The whole Ebola thing keeps reminding me of the game. If you haven't played it, it's a great way to waste some time while traveling or waiting in the car.

Perhaps, my lead will keep those who believe they are entitled to what's ours at least 2-300 yds out. Making runs for food and water , if it makes you feel good by all means. However those items should have been in inventory way before this.

I suggest filling all your vehicles up and store as many 5 gallon gas cans as you feel comfortable with. Same for propane , wood or pellets for your stove.

I absolutely agree, but if you haven't already, this is the perfect time to start.

We bought food for our parents because we knew they wouldn't. Now what to do about water???? I've been thinking about ordering some 50 gallon drums but beyond that we're kind of screwed in Highlands Ranch. We have enough for about a week which makes me nervous with all the freeze dried food.

If the water supply is going to be shut off or contaminated somehow, you can also fill your bathtubs and then put an appropriate amount of bleach in to kill any bacteria/viruses in the water. And don't forget about the 40-50gal of water in your hot water heater.
I knew that on-demand was a bad idea

Just an fyi. You can't boil or bleach Ebola out of the water. If infects the water supply most everyone around is done.
