Doubtful an everyday armed citizen would have been in that building to do what Vickers did, even if that were the norm there. Pissing and moaning about Canada's stupid gun laws does this guy, a honest to God hero who did what he needed to do without hesitation, a great disservice. Why not just give the guy the props he deserves without over-analyzing the anti-gun culture in Canada? I doubt he wrote the damn laws.

Very Impressive for someone who's got a few years on most of us. Plus he did what one is suppose to do, discharge firearm until the threat is stopped.

It could happen at the Texas state capital in Austin.

When we went the CHL line was shorter than the regular line. In fact, there was no line. We walked past the 20 or so waiting in the regular line, flashed our CO CCW permits while asking... really? and were waived right through while explaining that armed citizens who passed background checks were more of a help to them than a threat. It's been years and I'm still dumbfounded by that idea coming out of a state employee's mouth.

What Vickers did was exceptional. He did his job in a no-nonsense matter-of-fact way, and is one heck of a hero. I don't think anyone with a functioning brain will ever contest that fact, or try to downplay what this man achieved.

That being said, it would be wonderful if a certain quarter of society could get their heads out of their collective behinds, and face the fact that good guys with guns actually do stop bad guys with guns. It happens regularly. The average armed citizen has the capacity to do so, just because they aren't trained law-enforcement officers doesn't take away from the argument.

Apologies for dragging this off topic. Respect to Kevin Vickers!
