Sounds like you acted correctly wether you carry or not. That said, I see a CCW in you future. Glad you are safe.

Don't misunderstand my post. Even if I had been armed, driving off was my best option.

The whole situation just got me to thinking about how bad stuff can happen when you least expect it and where you least expect it. If it had just been me in the vehicle I probably wouldn't have thought so much about it after it happened. The fact that my wife was with me and he was approaching her side of the vehicle was the part that bothered me. Fortunately we were in a situation where driving away was an easy option. Could have been a whole different story if that wasn't the case.

It probably not a big deal and is too late. I would call local PD to do welfare or general check up. Just in case.

I'm on the fence about a car gun. I really like the convenience of it, but I dread the possibility of some a-hole randomly breaking into my car and finding it (the usefulness of it is severely diminished if you make it difficult to grab in an instant, by making it inaccessible by thoroughly hiding it or locking it away)

Get a CHP! We need more good guys with permits out there.

You're right, getting out of the area is always the best thing to do.

Lol. She doesn't like guns. Not in the way that they scare her or she doesn't want them around or any of that nonsense. Just that she has tried several times and is a horrible shot so she doesn't like shooting anything at all. Even if she got her permit we wouldn't be safe.

Yeah, I probably should have called the incident in and maybe they could have sent someone to check and see what's going on. Didn't think about it at the time.

You probably hit the nail on the head there. My guess is that was probably the case. I'm sure the wife and I probably weren't in any actual danger but the whole thing was a little freaky none the less.

By Law Driving Off / Flight was the correct option. Could you have engaged a threat? Providing it was a clear one Yes. HOWEVER the means to escape / Flight was also there and done . NEVER ENGAGE IF FLIGHT is an OPTION.
I don't care what the majority says, trust me. Taking off, even IF it meant a stops sign or red light ticket, was much cheaper than your 1st meeting with an attorney.
