    Exactly. If you change your withholding so you owe a small amount every year then noone will steal your id and your refund. Self reliance instead of waiting for the feds to fix it.

    They hav known about this problem for years and don't fix it but target gun owners and the tea party!!

    Here's another tax question that I've tried to research in the past but came up empty...how do you figure out what you should claim on your taxes so that you don't have a refund or a deficit at the end of the year (ideally anyways)?

    In the old days, non electronic, they had a book I think called withholding tables. It would show how much is withheld from the check based on pay and claimed exemptions. check the IRS website.

    You can pickup the 1040 booklet in post offices, libraries, etc etc. But here is the PDF copy. Match your NET income to the chart.
