Made it out to the range for the first time this year. Mostly wanted to shoot my new Glock 43.

The target situation is a bit bleak right now so bear with me. I used some well loved IPSC targets as backers.

Here were the first couple of mags through the 43. The first mag went left and a few went low and left. The second mag I took my time and focused more on what I was doing and those rounds went more in the center.

Here were the next two magazines. One shot strayed a bit low and left and for some unexplained reason I threw one shot high near the hole in the top of the target.

Put several more magazines through it with similar results. Thought maybe I was just having a rough day so put a couple of mags through my favorite Glock 19. Here was the first magazine.

And the same target after a somewhat hurried second mag.

Definitely not my best day but the 19 was much easier to shoot well than the 43.

Put my first rounds through the Just Right Carbine today as well. Off hand at 25 yards. I was a bit shaky for whatever reason. Slightly low and just to the right. Wasn't really sighting it in or shooting for groups. Mostly wanted to see if it functioned.

Anyhow, a bad day shooting is still better than a good day at work, right?

Also, it took me forever to get to and from CRC today. 96th Avenue is washed out a couple of miles west of the range and you can't get there the way I normally go. The washout is about 18 feet deep and probably thirty feet accross. Had to double back, detour south to 36 and come in from the east side.

Good to know about the wash out. I don't even remember any other way to get out there. I'll have to leave early for next weeks match.

I did talk to a county worker at the washout. He said they were going to start working on it Monday. I suppose there's a chance it could be done before your next match.

Nothing, our range is a bit muddy.

Nah. They either cancel them or I end up being out of town. They're your matches.

I'm not planning on getting rid of the 43. Just need more practice to feel more confident with it. It seems like it's going to be really easy to carry.

Wish I even knew they posted the road closure on the website. Could have saved me some time.

Snuck out to the range with my 338 Lapua and 223 Ackley bolt gun to verify/true long range dope.

Checked zeros at 300 and 100 yards. Forgot I had changed stocks/scopes on my 223 so it was all dicked up.

After that I put 20 rounds of 338 on a 600 yard target. I forgot I was shooting a 300 gn bullet with an almost .900 bc. I needed a lot less wind that I am used to 115 gn 6mm bullets.

The energy that those 300s put into a chunk of steel is pretty cool compared to the little bullets I am used to shooting.

On the way out I burned a mag of factory ammo through my carry gun just to make sure it still worked and I can still clean a plate rack with it.
You know I like my coffee sweet in the morning
and I'm crazy about my tea at night
