Be a good parent and show them how to be a capable human being by example. Be involved in your kids lives and their education, get to know their teachers and make sure you reinforce the behaviors and ideas you want to instill in them.

Because it is possible to raise functioning members of society in this day and age (gasp!) and it doesn't require isolation from society nor does it require a ridiculously restrictive lifestyle.
