Attention span of the modern yute.

That, and the fact that they can't read.

I will add, it's easier to feed them "facts" visually. If they actually read the story, their brain may actually process information and formulate cognizant opinion.

Except for the fact that modern journalists have lost the ability to actually write stories.

Sub titles on tv or in movies. Especially the news. I'm listening to the news and some gibberish is spoken, but I miss it since they feel hearing gibberish with subtitles is more important than dubbing the translation over it.

No need for subtitles in movies either. A foreign accent is good enough.

    This is becoming common.

Speaking directly to someone now can be "intimidating." Outside of a TED Talk, of course.
    Amen brothers.

According to the audiologist, my hearing is fine, yet I can't hear most conversations, I get about 50% drop outs (forget about my hearing anything if there is background noise). If people look at me when they speak I can use the visual clues with what I heard to correctly formulate what they said most of the time. When folks won't speak up AND talk to me while they're looking away from me it becomes frustrating. One would think that by the third time I ask someone to repeat what they said they'd look at me and speak louder; but no.

Folks with hearing problems get a pass. What I meant was people that habitually say, "Huh?" or "What?" when you know damn well that they heard you.
