To some degree, Yes. The Framers watched people get persecuted for committing petty crimes or no crime at all and believed protections needed to be in place for the accused along with consistency in laws and restrictions to what they can do. Since 1998 there have been 22,176 15-18 year olds killed as an occupant in a motor vehicle accident. If these kids were truly concerned about their safety they would be marching to raise the driving age to 19.
