The M1 Garand is an excellent rifle! They can currently be found for $800-1,200 in decent shape. While semi-automatic, the internal magazine exempts it from currently proposed bans. They can be had in .30-06 (the Lord’s caliber) or .308/7.62MM. Both are highly effective and considerably more frightening to me than 5.56MM seeing the results.
I'm worried about a full semi-auto ban which would include my beloved M1. I'm torn right now between an A2Clone Ar or getting an M1 off the CMP when I get my interest free loan back from the IRS.

Really surprised people are worried what they may not be able to buy down the road. One would think the predictions of an actual Hillary win, everyone would be top heavy in the gun dept.

Everything I have read is focused on the function including detachable magazines. An M1 diversifies.

    Doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

I’m a hoarder. I can’t part with anything. Only two guns I ever sold was my G21 and a Rem Viper 522 because I absolutely hated them.

I'll throw an iron in the fire.

If a ban does take place, it wont be through gun confiscation...it'll come via a Democratic Presidents Executive Order directing all ammunition companies to be forbidden from the sale of ammunition to civilian personnel.

It will be done under the guise of "needs of the country" or some other bs along those lines and justified to a Liberal Court and that will be the end of it. They will manufacture some sort of "crisis" to fortify it.

All of our firearms will be rendered useless once we run out of ammo.

Libs will be grinning ear to ear: enjoy your useless paper weights.

I'm the same way. I get more attached guns than people. I have bought a few rifles years ago in hopes of selling them in the future; yet they're still sitting in the safe.

I'm on the hunt for a Henry All Weather in .357, cool rifle and versatile in use.

Except for the billions of rounds already in civilian hands. Properly stored ammo has a very long shelf life. There's still World War 1 stuff being shot today...a hundred years later.
