Time to park "Miss Agnes" in the driveway.
Fans of the John D. MacDonald literary character Travis McGee have wondered for decades what a real Miss Agnes -- McGee’s Rolls-Royce pickup truck -- might look like. But for all those concepts, drawings and imaginary exercises that never got made, there is at least one that made it into reality.
If you are a Travis McGee fan you know this isn’t really Miss Agnes. Its the wrong color. Miss Agnes, who appears in each of the 21 McGee novels is a 1936 electric blue Rolls Royce pickup truck. Here’s how she is described by Travis in Bright Orange for the Shroud.
"Because of the boat errands, I had Miss Agnes parked nearby, my electric blue Rolls pickup truck, an amateur conversion accomplished by some desperate idiot during her checkered past. She is not yet old enough to vote. But almost. She started with a touch, and I went along the beach to where…"
So some hoa’s Don’t allow the homeowner to park a pickup truck on the street or in the driveway?

My feedback add 11-12 ish before the great servpocaylpse of 2012
HOAs became popular as people started realizing they could no longer afford flight to keep themselves in a good neighborhood. So they created an artificial system (more gov) and it's been modestly successful--but it is voluntary which is key. Our house is now 20 years old and the neighborhood is very desirable. Compare to Aurora where I grew up and in 20 years ('77-95ish) it went completely downhill.
HOAs have certainly gone full potato in some places! WC is full of closeted and not-so-closeted Lib statists who love this kind of stuff.
HR isn't that bad as long as you don't intentionally test the rules. There are many violations, some on my own block, that have gone unnoticed. Other odd things do get noticed but are minor (leaving the trash cans out too long).
If you compare some HOAs to some city's ordinances, the HOAs are sometimes better, and you have more legal protection.
But it's not for everyone. If I had all the toys/time I wanted I probably wouldn't live here. Since I am money/time limited, all I need for now is a house in a safe neighborhood for the family, and decent resell value.

Always eat the vegans first
Our neighborhood has a voluntary HOA; not many people in the neighborhood belong to it. We've got very few covenants- stuff like easements for cable, etc no mining or oil operations shall be conducted on the property and so on.
No HOA was one of our criteria in purchasing our home. I personally bristle at the very idea of anyone telling us what to do with property we have paid for.

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".
