I remember hearing sonic booms from a Blackbird over Louisville.

I have been a fan of the Blackbird since I was old enough to understand what that plane was capable of.

If anyone is ever in the Tucson area, I highly recommend the Pima Air & Space Museum. They have some SR71 stuff thats awesome. Okay pretty much every thing there is. They even have a NASA guppy, crazy. Plan at least 3 hours, or the whole day if you're really into aviation. Oh & the helicopters! & the Marauder! & the flag from Normandy! & & &...!

It was a little freaky... but we lived just South of Ft. Carson- and saw them jumping out of perfectly good airplanes all the time. We figured it was a prank on a FNG, getting him to jump way too early. I'm sure it was way worse day for him- the liberal woman that lived there was none too pleased about it, but gave him a ride back to the gate.

There’s also a Titan missle silo/museum. When my family moved there in ‘68 my dad used to take me out to Davis-Monthan to watch the U2s do their “touch & go”, good times for a kid for sure.

I love the Titan missle museum. Been there more than once. Couple a fantastic Observatories down there also, but that's another thread.
