Good luck! Don't think the politics angle will be any better in Austin . . . pretty increasingly progressive town. But you'll definitely get away from the snow and have a lower cost of living. And phenomenal BBQ & music scene.

Yeah, in Austin proper, for sure, but I'll be getting a house outside of the city itself, so I'll still be in a more conservative area. I'm tired of Denver and Boulder having say over the whole state.

Let's hope TX won't go the way of CO in a few years, it's the national trend to have major urban areas control the entire state, and I'm afraid TX is a hot spot of that happening.
