Timely thread for us. I was interested in Xfinity Mobile a couple of years ago until I found out it was iPhone only. Pass.
We currently use VZW and the other day ordered two of the Samsung Galaxy S10e phones and plan to use the 3GB shared plan for only $30/mo. Some months we may go over but even at a $12 penalty for that next GB we're still less than half of what we paid with VZW for the same data. We currently have a couple of Pixel 3 phones that we'll sell once we get these new phones set up and the lines ported over. We finally found her a white one in-store and were able to order me a black one to be drop shipped they other day. These have been a popular phone with the $250 off and the fact that they're probably 98% of the phone of the much more expensive S10 that is the flagship version.
I know the downside is that we may not take priority over VZW customers during times of congestion but I can tell you that, having been a VZW customer for about a decade or so now, during times of congestion I can't get a message or call to go through anyway. I've noticed this at Tour de Fat and similar events where a large amount of people are crammed into a smallish area not provisioned for that many devices. I usually put my phone in my pocket for the entirety of the event anyway so no real loss there. I also try to avoid mass groupings of people more and more in my old age anyway so for me the upside is $50ish per month savings over what will likely be about the same level of service anyway.
Couple this with the recent promo I got for our home internet and we're going to be saving $75ish per month on our mobile and internet. Our internet went from 175/5Mbps to 500/15Mbps as well as going down about $25 per month so we're getting a better level of service for less money. Tough to beat that. I hate Comcast/Xfinity passionately but until we get our city broadband up and running it's the only show in town. Once that hits, I don't much care what "promotions" we're offered we're done w/Comcast. We'll re-evaluate mobile at that time since you have to have them for internet or pay a $20 penalty to use their mobile service and at that point it's probably better to go with someone else.
Although I can't report first-hand at this point our experience with Xfinity mobile I'm sure I've got a pretty good idea on what to expect moving forward based on posts here and all over the world wide web.
