It was a pleasant surprise to learn that solicitation quickly becomes illegal with proper signage, could be as simple as the little "No soliciting" signs on your door, or a no trespassing sign. Fortunately our community has signs posted at both entrances, with the ARS spelled out. Only door ringing at my place is the neighbor kids wanting to play, or Amazon, UPS, etc. But no, I'm like you, I don't answer the door for anything usually.
