It could be 80%, 76%, 25%...doesn't matter. The only way any restriction would ever have teeth is if they banned home manufacture completely -> require ALL guns must have traceable serial #'s. Nothing less has any teeth at all.

There is no way to determine if a home made gun started at "80%" or somewhere less than that. Only thing an 80% restriction would slow would be online sales. But the people always find a way. Affordable desktop CNC mills like the Ghost Gunner will become commonplace. People will continue to make guns at home, one way or another. It's part of our culture now.

If they banned home manufacture completely with a felony if caught in possession of un-numbered gun...that would convince many to stop. (But these tyrants won't do that, at least not yet. Because it would literally require a gun confiscation or paid registration of all existing un-numbered guns. They're not quite ballsy enough to try that yet).

But an 80% ban? That's meaningless.

If a person with the education of a kindergarten kid, sitting in a cave in Afghanistan . Can make a rifle over a fire that shoots fairly well out to say 6-800 yards. What's to stop anyone with a drill press from making a gun. Hell if a guy can make an AK receiver from a shovel. ANYTHING is possible with American Ingenuity .

My question is . Who exactly will the anti-law enforcement administration going to get. To go door - door in search of ANY firearm. made at home, or a legit mfg?
Sure there's some hard core anti-gun door kickers out there.
But what does one think their success rate will be. If they don't get past the second block, in a gun friendly neighborhood.

I forgot, I'm sure there's thousands who will turn in their 80% builds. And why not? There's forum members who have posted they'd turn their guns in.

Oh well ,Once again gun owners are our own worse enemy.

I don't know what you're talking about. I don't even own any guns to turn in. Those $50 gift cards to the iStore will have to go to some other lucky bastard.

ETA: Realistically of course, their success is in driving people to basements or what not, and not passing on their hobby to grandkids etc., and in denying the generational succession. 1 Generation = 25 years, which goes by pretty fast. That's the end game.
