    Default Americana

Figured we had a picture thread for just about everything else...why not one for cool, red-blooded, American stuff. Anything American is fair game.

I took a little day trip to check out an antique store in Albany, TX a few weeks ago. Came across the courthouse and the old jail building. The courthouse was built in 1883. I think the jail was built prior to that. The jail is used by the sheriff's department staff these days, cuz, you know...it's not up to standards for housing prisoners, I guess. It's a federal thang.

So, here we go. I thought this was very typical of small-town America and the Ten Commandments on the courthouse grounds was a nice touch, too.

Not sure what constitutes Americana but Route 66 is pretty iconic.

That ^ constitutes Americana perfectly. Route 66 runs just a little north of where I live down here.

Did you see a girl in a flatbed Ford? And if so did she slow down to take a look at you? Been there many times when I lived in Tucson, had a good friend that lived in Winslow before he and his wife moved to Sedona.

No. But I was standing on the corner with my wife so maybe none of them were brazen enough to stop and check me out.

Might as well toss up a photo of my dad?s car as it should fit right in with this thread.
