Or SAFriday could be experiencing the "Old Man Syndrome" in which it Appears babies are having babies, but the parents he are seeing are actually 20-25 and in a distortion of the time-space continuum as we get Older everyone else gets younger.

Beat me too it, however i'm going to expand on this a bit, as my Girlfriend and I were JUST talking about this the other day, and guess what, we were in Wal-Mart.

I've increasingly noticed and influx of GIRLS (not women), wearing extremely short tight shorts. Not to get to personal or anything, but my GF has those boy short undies that cover up more than these shorts that are being worn in public by girls between the ages of roughly 5-16 give or take, and one of the biggest problems I see, is 9 times out of 10, they are with their parents. It's not like 16 year old Lucy, is slipping into something "more comfortable" once she leaves her parents house, SHE IS WITH HER PARENTS.

Now I think pedophiles are some of the lowest form of scum, on the face of this planet, and there is no excuse for what they do, but how do you expect to keep your children safe from these POS's, when you are letting them run around basically wearing underwear.

I'm a very non confrontational person, and always have been, but it's all I can do to not say something to these people, for letting their children run around dressed like this. They usually always get a dirty look and a head shake from me however. That is all

My fiance lived on her own, in her own apartment, in a different state from her parents, since she was 15 years old. She didn't get pregnant until she was 33.

I can't even fathom the level of responsibility that she had at 15, that I am just now achieving at 27.

I asked her how she managed to be a completely unsupervised 15 year old and not get into trouble, and basically it turns out that she was just 10 times smarter and more mature than everyone else at that age. She said her parents would always tell her that she was going to be dumb and get pregnant, even though she wasn't a bad kid and wasn't a little slut or anything, that she made it a point to never go down that road. I look up to her very much.

we were always EXTREMELY Careful and used protection EVERY TIME.

That was just the kids I ran with back then...
We knew that if anyone popped up pregnant the whole group would immediately come under fire.

It's not that we are better or worse than any other generation morally, Hell kids have been getting pregnant since the dawn of time and probably always will.

I guess we just knew that mommy and daddy weren't going to clean it up for us.

I was talking about Stryke's idea of SA viewing a 25yo as a teen. But yeah, I've been out on my own since 17yo and I think it makes for a stronger type of character.

There may be a "few" more now than in the past, but this is not new. It's just not hidden anymore.

In the 30's and 40s women were married as teens. In the 50's and 60's little Suzie went away for "summer camp" just as she was getting "chubby"

I'm a product of the 80's (I'm 42) and 3 girls I went to high school with had kids in high school.

My kids (daughters) are 7 and 8, my neighbors are a few years younger than I and their kids are a Sr in High school and a Freshman at CU. I go to parent nights at school, (or the Soccer field/gymnastics/whatever) and the moms are in their mid 20's but have kids the same age as mine.


now, all that said, I see a bad trend of parents trying to be their kids "friends" (especially teen girls and their moms). It's hard to tell your "friend" not to do something they want to do. My 8-year old tells me a couple time a week that "I'm the worst Dad in the world". . . .I say thank-you, because it means I'm doing my job

I can't find anything more current than 2007/8, but it appears 05 was the lowest in years, then the pregancy rate went up in 06 and 07. 08 is fell a little. Last I could find the CDC was talking about one third of teenage girls were pregnant before 20. We have had the highest teen pregnancy rates of any country for quite a while.

Definately some good input here. I never thought about the TV shows. We pulled our cable after being disgusted with having 2 our of 1000 channels worth a crap; Discovery and the History Channel. The rest is garbage, and I can see some of these shows glamorize pregnancy and babies.

The best thoughts so far IMO are the teen girl porn from romance and fashion. That's really interesting stuff. I'll have to think about that and see if I can find some more on it.

Hurley... What can I say. I see them too. It's the same Wal-mart.

Edited to add: I'm pretty good at aging people. I'm not perfect, but I'm not mistaking 22 for 17 any time soon. I spend way too may hours on campus with 20 year olds all day long. I'm 41 BTW. I just act like I'm 27

I was a little off there, for some reason I thought I saw a post where you said you were 28. I'm not always on my A game...I'm 28 going on 17 so it's all good man.

Oh hell, I got kicked out out of my country when I was 14 and have been on my own since then...and I never got pregnant!
