    I was listening to a an NPR show once, and this lady was saying how for the longest time, she thought that "LOL" meant, "Lot's of Love." So for a long time she was signing all her e-mails with "LOL," and she distinctly remembers responding to a lady who recently just lost her mother with an email that went something like, "Sorry to hear about your mother. LOL."

    I still laugh when I think about that interview.

    I think when people say OMG or LOL out loud, they are trying to be ironic (unless they are like 17 and under). At least I usually am.
