Let's not forget us to the south.

Any of these friendly FFL's with good attitudes and prices along my regularly traveled route from Monument to the North Co. Springs?

I thought BG's response was spot on...
    As a note here:
Bailey Guns did my Kimber Eclipse Pro Carry way back in '04 or so...
I used him because he was a buddy of a buddy - didn't know me from Adam...
I found a great price online ($879? IIRC), called and gave him the pertinent details and about a week later I drove from Colorado Springs to Bailey and picked it up - also picked up a few items that I needed... spare mag, some ammo and targets etc..
I found him to be courteous, concise and an all around friendly guy.
I didn't think about, nor ask for a discount because he was a 'friend of a friend' - I paid what he charged and assumed it was the price he placed upon his time and effort for that specific process.
Yeah - I drove a good piece to get there... but it was a nice drive and a buddy let me drive his beemer, so I had a great time, a good lunch next door and got a good price on the exact gun I wanted....
I could have used someone in the Springs... but hey... WTF.
BTW - Thanks Carl - I still have that one... I will always have the Kimber!

I respect those opinions but also believe there are some folks that would like to approach their discretionary income expenditures more carefully when it comes to gasoline and equipment prices.

    Just sayin'.

He's nice, and doesn't charge much.
That's why I mentioned him. AFAIK, he's retired and just does transfers for extra income, but I ain't swearin' to that. I've used his services a few times, always a good experience. I found out about him here, as a matter of fact. He's kinda near Park Meadows Mall, around I-25 and Dry Creek, I think it is. Just a few blocks west of I-25.

I believe he does prefer that you come by first and fill out the paperwork, then come pick up the gun when it arrives. But call him first and get the poop.

I understand... the gun was like 900... so 15 for gas and 20 for transfer was under 5% of the overall purchase...
Percentage wise... not a big deal... now if it were a 450 gun... it would come up to a whopping 8%.
If you can afford to buy a gun... you can afford the transfer.
Nitpicking over 25 bucks on a 500 dollar deal is like spending an hour of your time trying to get out of doing a 5 minute task.
    Just my opinion.
And you know what they say about opinions.

Oops... my use of percentage symbol...

it is actually 4% and 8%
    Good catch.

    900*0.05=45
(yeah it is more than 35 but - just an estimate - 0.04 is 36...)

    450*0.08=36

    Fixed...

    Math seems ok to me...
You said .05% and .08%...the correct answer is 4% and 8%.
