Thread: First 1911

    Default First 1911

I just purchased a Rock Island 1911 Officers model. I pick it up Sunday. I'm kind of excited about it because I have never owned a 1911. Have any of you guys ever owned a Rock Island. I've been reading the reviews and they seem to do fairly well for a less expensive 1911. Thoughts??

Rock Island makes a pretty decent gun. Congrats!

RI makes a decent 1911- Philippine manufacture-Standard 1911 parts interchange readily.
I have built up a couple of pretty nice 1911's for guys that turned out to be good shootin irons.

I just bought one last week.
Im happy with it. Thought about spending a little more on a Springfield but did not want something I would have to be to careful with.
I wanted something reasonably priced, rugged and compatible with aftermarket parts.
I picked it up at Big R and of course after I bought it that day the mail man delivered a coupon for 10% off any purchase!

To bad it only comes with one mag and thats about it!
    Glad I got it.

Be happy to re-park it or DuraCoat it.

I think I got a fair deal. It is new in the box, set of custom grips, original grips, nice holster, and a box of shells for $400 bucks. I can't wait to shoot it.

I like the RI frames to start with. They allow one that is not hung up on a name to build a very nice pistol for not much cash and it will have what ya want. I was about $550 into my last one.
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.
