    Default First 1911?

Okay I'm thinking of getting a 1911...I know I should probably own 2 or 3 cause that's american. Anyhow, I'm leaning towards a Springfeild Champion 4" just cause I've heard good things, I really know nothing when it comes to the 1911! I want a 4" model maybe 3" just for carry reasons but mostly like the 4". What do you guys recommend?...trying to stay under a grand but might trade an AR if need be. Thanks for all input

Default Consider a alloy commander size for carry

I have found that the short barrel length on a stell 1911 was hard to carry. The weight of the grip.butt made the pistol feel like it was levering out of the holster.

If you get a proper holster, concealing a full size 1911 is easy. I conceal my Springfield Operator.

    Yep,
the Champion would be a good choice, it would come in just under your 1K limit for the operator model. Or at about $600 or slightly less for the GI model, or around $800 for the fully loaded. You can get all models for less if you can find them preowned.

Ounce you go 1911, you never go back.

If you're feeling cheap, my Citadel is extremely impressive for the cost. Your first should be a full size too!

@ about .6lbs lighter than a full size 1911...the ultimate 1911 edc IMO. Look for a blem and you can get them for just over $1k.

You can get them in 9mm of 45.

Sound advice from the "Trunk Monkey"- hard to go wrong on a Springy and the 4" barrel models typically won't have the teething pains that a 3.5" may.
Don't discount a Colt either but you will pay for the pedigree a touch.

1911's carry just fine, a holster with a forward cant will make it carry a bit better, especially on slender folks like us.
I carry my Micro Compact daily in a Bianchi IWB and it carries quite well.

Probably very true! I shot my buddies full size Colt today with all national match parts, including frame, and it was a dream. I just couldn't get over how nice it was and made me really really want one!!
