+1 for this area. The river maybe blown out for a while though. Plenty of fishing from the road. Might consider staying here: http://www.allingtoninn.com/ in Kremmling.

Congrats! the first 10 years are the hardest...

Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company, usually have to wait a little but great food and great beer.
Juicy Lucy's Steak house great too. all on the same road.
Doc Holidays has great burgers and everyone liked their meal there as well.
There is a new seafood place at the west end of town but always had a wait so we bypassed it till the fervor dies down.

Glenwood Springs - ride the tramway up to the top of the mountain. There's a nice little amusement park up there, you'll dig the mountain coaster thing but she probably can't ride it. The Caverns is a nice tour, and a chance to get out of the heat into the coolness. There's even a decent restaurant up there.

Oh, the pool is cool too, but stinky because of the minerals.

We were told the tramway was pretty cool and we definitely want to hit the caverns up.

that doesn't seem too bad. Was $92/night at one at $110 at the other.

What about camping? I still haven't made a final decision on whether or not to suck it up and buy the room or to take my chances and camp it out and hope things go smooth. she has been camping before so it isn't a big deal, but if there is a designated camp ground with some facilities that would be nice for her.

anyone have an idea what the temps get down to at night in those areas?

JMHO, but camping with a pregnant woman seems to me like a sure recipe for unhappiness. I'd bet she'd be much happier with a comfy bed, nice shower, and cool AC. But that's just how I think, what do I know.....

I consider that, but my cheapness is what is holding me back. I did try to bid on some hotels up there but didn't score for the price that I wanted. damn weekends are always harder to get good deals on.
I am sure I will end up sucking it up and paying the money. I just like to save whenever I can. I am paying for her masters right now to keep from her getting any more student loans which ultimately are mine as well. I grew up never taking on any debt and I don't have any in my name other than my house which unless I could do what I wanted and take drastic measures I would not do as well. I would be content saving money while living on a few acres in a trailer with a well and a outhouse, but that is just me. I'll just work extra hard to get out from under a house and truly have some freedom!

anyways, back to the 18th! yeah I am sure I will get a hotel. something in town would be best, under $70 for the night would be awesome, but whatever it takes I guess.

I do think we will do the cavern and tram tour. looks like $22/each for the day. anyone know of a coupon or cheaper rates?

that will probably be our saturday. now we just need to figure out a nice dinner spot for saturday and some activity to do on sunday morning and a spot for lunch, then head home after that.
