True, but I was explaining this to my mom, since she and I both take our dogs with us a lot of the time whenever we go somewhere. Leaving them in the car, with adequate ventilation (windows down) and water shouldn't constitute animal cruelty, should it? Otherwise, if I'm stopping off at the store before taking them to the dog park or hiking, where else would I leave them if they aren't allowed inside the nice food-filled, air conditioned grocery store? I'd like to hear that animal control officer's ideas, can't leave them in the car, can't take them inside, and if you tie them to a pole and someone either gets bitten or dog-naps your pets it's kinda your own problem....WTF?

Thing is, had the person in the original story left another PERSON with the dogs, it wouldn't be animal cruelty ... which is why the law is so stupid.

Honestly it bugs me when I see people leaving their dogs in the car with the windows rolled up on a warm to hot day, but this cop clearly over reacted (and based on his over reaction, I don't think he should be allowed to wear a badge).
