    Ronin13:

In that case, it should then have been "were" - the subject was "you", therefor "was" is incorrect. It is also considered good form to maintain temporal consistency, maintaining either present or past tense (not both) in one phrase.

I agree with you that, yes, more time should indeed be taken to insure properly expressing one's thoughts. There is a preview function on this site to help visualize one's posts and one can always cut and paste from one's computer's word processing program after utilizing the spelling and usage checks.

    Hoosier,

I am already running Firefox, thanks anyway. I find the grammar and spell check functions in Word to be a bit more useable (though still often wrong, especially for technical writing, a bit of which I do for my clients).

My browser (Safari, whatever the newest version is) autocorrects things for me and holy crap does it piss me off sometimes.... like when I type "mags" and it autocorrects it to "magus."

It does seem like spandex is being imposed upon the world...... I wear that stuff because like others said, it is functional. And if you take a fall the fabric will slide on the pavement for a bit rather than your skin. Saves a little road rash if you take a dump.

If you read all the posts you will see that my comments never threatened anyone on a bike.
The thread took a sharp left, and I found myself talking about the trucking industry, not exactly sure how it happened, then we were talking about taxes, again a bit of a mystery.
As for my comment about lowering or dropping the fuel taxes for semi's, my reasoning is that everything is moved by truck, if they get a small break that we should all benefit too.

I watched the video, and all the riders I saw were as far right as possible, and not impeding the fucktard in the dodge at all, so in this specific instance, the guy in the truck was an asshole.
I used to have to drive through Chatfield State Park to get to work everyday. Nearly every day on my way home I would have problems with riders. The part that made me most angry was that there is a nice, smooth paved bike path running parallel to the road, not 6 feet away. If you haven't driven through the park, well, the roads aren't too good. So why the hell would they choose to be in the middle of the road holding everyone up? I had to buy a park sticker to use the road, the cyclists don't. So, yes, there are SOME cyclists I'd love to see get smoked out. Does that make it right, not really.
Yup, thread took a few detours. If you were not implying what I though sorry. If you have cyclist blocking the road hit the horn when you see them. If they bitch stop and have a chat with them. If I get a chance I say something to people riding 3-4 wide because it pisses people off and they then take it out on me. I will go 2 wide when passing or helping someone with technique etc. If I'm in your way/don't notice you coming give a toot to the horn, I'll get my ass out of the way.

I stay off the path due to folks walking dogs etc.

Here's what I put in one of my previous posts:

In a previous post I stated how I’ve been swerved at by vehicles, they play “how close can I get my mirror to his head” etc. No sense in reposting it all here.
Bottom line, I pay taxes just like everyone else. I also pay for the goods and services that pay a truck driver’s salary. Get over it. I'm going to use the road. Where you need to get worked up is when I don't follow the rules/law.

How do I feel threatened? Simple a one ton plus vehicle buzzing me at who knows how fast. It’s aggressive, period. Try that on a cop car with a cement truck, semi etc and continue driving. See how long it takes for them to use deadly force to make you stop.
Again, I’ve considered carrying my alloy J frame after reading all this I and giving it more serious thought.
So to the folks that think it's OK to buzz/swerve at a cyclist, hey you can do what you want. And I'll do what I think is right.

Graves, that doesn't count! That's from a James Bond film! But there is ample reason why they chose KW... What is your Ken Worth by the way?

Low drag- I understand that some drivers are assholes to cyclists... the point I'm advocating is that two wrongs don't make a right. If a cyclist decides to hog the road and be a douche because they were wronged by a couple asshole drivers, they are a dick and I feel no sympathy when they are buzzed, honked at, or get yelled at. I find myself constantly yelling out the window to bikers "Share the road goes both ways!" Sure I get the finger from time to time, but I just ignore and rest easy in the fact that I let them know that they're not the only ones who use the road.

Funny thing, I asked a couple road bikers this morning at the bike shop I picked up some things at today, how they ride in the streets. One stays to the right as far as possible, one rides in the middle of the road (even through town). I asked the guy who rides in the middle of traffic why he does it and he said he was tired of the dumb shits who "try to scare him" so now he just rides in the middle. He says that is the main reason why most of the guys he rides with do it also. I thought that was interesting, the dipshits that do the stupid things have caused the whole "taking up the whole lane" delima, at least in this instance.

As far as all of this goes, just because you don't like what someone is doing (especially if it isn't hurting anyone), doesn't give you the right to be a dipshit and pull a juvenile move to piss them off. I'm sure you also do things that piss people off and would be pretty angry if some asshole randomly came up to you and did something just to piss you off because of it.
