Don't see why we would need a CCW permit to go shoot at targets...

Not sure how much of that is tongue in cheek.

I guess it needs to be said, although I get caught up in the assumption; Every shooter must be legal to own, possess, carry, and do so in a manner within the law. If you are legal to open carry, then by all means, do so. If you must bring it cased and then holster up before shooting, do so safely, and store it properly before departing.

Big Boy Rules! If you are over 18 years of age, then obey the law or work through the legislature to change the law, but please don't break it in front of me

Lets just put it this way:
If you're not legally able to engage in activities in the Firearms For Sale area of the forum, don't come.

Though anyone that's legally able to own a gun is legally able to open carry.

Will we be able to practice shooting at that distance before hand? It is one thing to test the people who claim to be able to shoot that far now, but what about the people that have never even tried?

That would be what I was trying to encourage in the thread that sparked all this crap... if you know you aren't capable of something, or simply don't know because you haven't tried... start practicing it.

Obviously all club shoot rules apply here boys. Figured that'd be a no brainer.

Trying to hit the target will be your practice, it won't be a do or die type of comp Irv. Show up have fun.

Are you going to be able to make it if it is, Mcantar? Pretty sure 20 years old isn't sufficient in order to have a CCW in Colorado.

I think the penalties for misses would slow almost everyone down. I really believe there have to be penalties for misses. There certainly are in real life, so there should be in competition/training.

I was thinking that the impetus for this type of match was the IHOP shooting. I was thinking that we each would need to shoot to the best of our individual abilities with what we carry each and every day. Personally, I carry three different pistols, two are off duty and one is an on duty. I would have to choose one of those pistols or shoot three different times. If people would like to throw in extra mags and shoot more rounds, again, that is fine by me, but there has to be some practical limit on how many rounds each person puts down range. Every round is a potential hit and a potential law suit or criminal charge.

To my way of thinking, if I didn't put down what I was shooting at, at 65 yards in the first ten rounds, the last thing I'm going to do is continue to engage at that distance with my last ten rounds.

While I like bench rest shooting, I personally don't see much point in making this a bench rest match or timed fire exercise. The timer would be there for tie breaking purposes only. If you, or anyone else wants to take a minute to shoot each round, that is fine by me. In fact, at 65 yards, I am certain that you would not hear a rapid string of rounds from me, especially knowing that I am wasting ammunition and losing points for every miss.

I could actually foresee a scenario where this type of match could be won by the shooter with the lowest minus score (closest to zero points).

    Thoughts? Anyone?
I agree and Disagree. We should only be allowed to get off 2 maybe 3 tops. The scenario while shooting at a target, does not have it shooting back at us. Therefore A SET Number Of Rounds should be the norm. Anyone can dump 7-17 rounds down range, not everyone would be doing a full mag dump at a target that in real life be returning fire.
Having a timer also proves nothing again in Real Life we are not shooting against a clock, would be shooting for our and someone else's life.

I do think the extra targets should be set up. not so much for multiple shooters, more to be utilized as civilians. They could be close enough to the target width wise, set back say another 10 yards? this way we can see for those shooting a full mag how many counts of manslaughter you would be charged with.

No matter what everyone agrees to i will do 2 rounds, as that is what i feel at a long distance you would have a chance to shoot before the aggressor turned their gun on you.

I will also bring a tape measure for those who think this should be a dick measuring contest.

    Exactly.

Really curious now if they're 100% bullshit or if he's illegally carrying concealed.

I'd like to have some water jugs set out that far. I'm curious how much penetration power is left in a handgun round at distances over 50 yards. That seems like a pretty important part of this scenario. If you can get head shots perfectly every time at 65 yards, you still shouldn't be taking those shots if the round is just going to be bouncing off of the targets skull. Might as well be throwing rocks then.
