Seriously, I work at walmart. I saw at least 6 zombies in that place tonight alone. They live around us, every day.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.
The Zombie Crawl is coming up....
Atrain, the situation you described with the cat and mouse is the opposite of the removal of the will to live. The mouse was so determined to eat the cheese (to live) that it would let the cat eat it.
Of course whom ever told you that story was high on meth when they told you. Mice can't form complex thoughts like, "I can smell cheese on that cat's breath, so it must have recently eaten cheese. I assume that if the cat eats me, then I'll end up in the same place as the cheese. Therefore, I can then eat the cheese myself."
If they were able to form complex thoughts like that, then surely they'd be able to realize that being eaten would completely destroy themselves, and would not then be able to eat the cheese. Well, I guess maybe if they were on drugs they wouldn't catch that important part. I don't know though, I don't use mouse.
I'm sure you're being sarcastic here, which I appreciate (really). Just in case you aren't though, here is the Wikipedia article on popular culture, which I think does a pretty good job of pigeon holing the Zombie fad.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_culture
Popular culture (commonly known as pop culture) is the totality of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, memes,[1] images and other phenomena that are deemed preferred per an informal consensus within the mainstream of a given culture, especially Western culture of the early to mid 20th century and the emerging global mainstream of the late 20th and early 21st century. Heavily influenced by mass media, this collection of ideas permeates the everyday lives of the society.
Popular culture is often viewed as being trivial and dumbed-down in order to find consensual acceptance throughout the mainstream. As a result, it comes under heavy criticism from various non-mainstream sources (most notably religious groups and countercultural groups) which deem it superficial, consumerist, sensationalist, and corrupted.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
The term "popular culture" was coined in the 19th century or earlier[11] to refer to the education and general "culturedness" of the lower classes, as was delivered in an address at the Birmingham Town Hall, England.[12] The term began to assume the meaning of a culture of the lower classes separate from (and sometimes opposed) to "true education" towards the end of the century,[13] a usage that became established by the interbellum period.[14] The current meaning of the term, culture for mass consumption, especially originating in the United States, is established by the end of World War II.[15] The abbreviated form "pop culture" dates to the 1960s.
"There are no finger prints under water."
haven't you guys seen zombieland? that is REAL. coming to a state near you. could happen any time. you just never know!
I would make sure you are prepared. doesn't have to be zombies, could be a natural disaster where people lose all self control and try to steal everything you have and kill you for it, cops are nowhere to be found.
you just never know!
And now we can't cuss and vent here anymore, so the pressure will just keep building until we explode! You guys are my biggest worry. No power = no COAR and we saw how quickly we went into withdrawals after being cut off for only a few hours.
I think preparing for huge riot is more than enough.
TO some, Riot can be SHTF.
There was the CDC "Zombie preparedness" blog:
http://blogs.cdc.gov/publichealthmat...ie-apocalypse/
Yes, it's real, the CDC really did it as a publicity stunt, for the same reason as described by others- preparing for such an event is also preparing for natural disasters, pandemic outbreak, etc..
Then there's this:
