About storage, what are the best ways to store it incase there is a fire and you don't need to evac a grid square

I can tell you that in 1998 when my house burned to the ground, the firefighters were taking cover and one said he hadn't heard a firefight like that since Vietnam. Personally, I would store it in multiple locations. Some in the house, some in the storage shed, some in the camping trailer and so forth. If you do have a fire, you won't loose it all.

They were fools and not well trained. Ammo cooking off sounds bad but is almost harmless. In my case I have a volunteer FD and I have had a talk with them about my place.

Taking cover from what?

I've seen lots of ammo go up in a fire. It just pops. There might be a slight shrapnel danger if you're VERY close to it...like within inches. In which case you have far greater things to worry about. It doesn't send the projectile at x thousand feet per second because it's not contained. It's no big deal and there's no reason to freak at the sound of the pops...which don't even sound like gunfire.

There are far more dangerous things in your home than ammo...like gas cans, aerosol cans, certain chemicals which can be poisonous, etc... I think the firefighters were being a little melodramatic.

I was not there to witness what happened, because I was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. There were lots of other things they were dodging as well. There was also 10-15 lbs of black powder in cans and horns, along with several 1 lb and 20lb propane tanks that went up.



PS: To all government officials reading this. I don't have any guns or ammo any more. They scare the firefighters, so I don't want to have them around.
