What this company does is when one scans the code it brings up video introducing my company. It also captures their info and puts them on a text to list. It allows me to send them promo and such through text. The only problem is how do you get that code out there? I would have to do it in print ads, which currently I do very little of.

How does it capture their info? Does the video page allow them to volunteer their info? Otherwise I don't think you can surreptitiously get their contact info just by having them visit.

I would personally be LIVID if someone did this to me just from scanning a QR code.

the scanner will deliver all of this information in their TOS and it can be disabled in some scanners.

The problem with QR codes is all the QR code reading apps are full of spam and or user tracking. Did a survey of about 200 QR reading apps last year - 95% of them wanted full control over all the data on your phone (contacts, emails, call logs, speaker, microphone, etc.). The other 5% wanted just a little less.

I thought about writing an Android QR app that was totally open source without any mal-intent... but then life happened.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

I think they are ridiculous and probably 0.2% of the population uses them on any regular basis. And those are probably scarf wearing blue voting San Fransisco natives on disability.

I'm sure I probably offended somebody

They are novelty, nothing more. 5 years from now probably wont see them anymore.
