    Cool 10/22 conversion?

    All,

In review of this (and other sites), there are members that are converting ARs to 22lr (cost etc.).
My question, I have a 10/22, can it be converted to an AR15 type configuration?

If so, this would be my “First Build” and with all considered, cost is a factor, so $$?

So..... initially thanks for your information!!

Archangel stock seems like a decent way to go.

If you want a 22lr AR, get a dedicated 22lr Upper...you be happier with the performance than with any dolled up 10/22. And the overall cost will be about the same. Ask me how I know. Dont get me wrong, wont give up my dressed up 10/22, but if I had to do it again... there is NO FREAKIN' WAY. I am regretting ever messing with the factory config. Oh...you wanted cost...I have over $500 into embellishments on my 10/22...still doesn't perform like an AR.

    Maybe try an M&P 15-22 ?
But the Thompson conversion for the 10-22 is the Bomb of 10-22 conversions.

I have a 22 spikes/cmmg what ever conversion unit with a lot of Early BDM mags i might part with.
I've gone the 10/22 in to an ar looking rifle, while it was unique there was more hassles over for the money invested than having did something Ar related.
    YMMV

How about some of these conversions? All of these are airsoft guns that were gutted and made to fit a 10/22.

This. Sell the 10/22 and buy one of the S&W rifles. Any "conversion" you do will never be ergonomically the same as a true AR configuration.

There's something to be said for just having a 10/22 in the stable. While the dedicated uppers are nice, they tend to run as much if not more than a used M&P22. I've got both and love the M&P .. shoots pretty much everything I've run through it, mags aren't too much more and dedicated to the platform. I've had a .22 conversion bolt and had more problems with mags, even the vaunted black dog mags, than it was worth.

Still, you're going to spend as much on a quality conversion chassis as you will just selling the 10/22 and saving a little extra for a M&P. Your call of course, just offering my experiences.

I was going to keep my 10/22 stock but after some issues with my front dove tail and my tech sights and my suppressor will be mine soon I am going to get a threaded barrel, and since I am doing that I will be getting a troy conversion chassis. Look those up, they are super cool, come with sights and replicated the ergonomics of an AR fairly well. (as long as u ignore different mags and controls.
