Dude, remember your dealing with folks who pick up the phone and call for help! You been trained to be the one who they call..... Most CCW carriers have a lack of training and wouldn't even have a clue how to close the distance or advance on the subject if possible.

They never learned "tactics" and prob only put 1000 rounds down a range @ a paper target. My point is they have limited training.

I am on your side however, close with and destroy the enemy....

I'm getting the hell out of there and not thinking of returning fire. The chances of getting a shot off (short of standing next to the shooter) with any accuracy would have to be little to no chance. Getting a shot off on an unarmored part of his body is even less. Sorry, but this is simply a leave the gun in the holster and get the hell out of dodge situation.
    absolutely

but then again I tend to overall agree with foxtrot on this one, I'd give it a whirl I think armed or not, but I've never been in any situation like that so I don't know 100% for sure how I'd react, I have no delusions of unscathed success either.

totally agree with that too.. what's to say that getting in the armor wouldn't have slowed him down enough for somebody to tackle him or something? youre right though, no one can know for sure. it would have been a very hard situation......

Nobody is arguing that it's a shitty situation. It would take multiple people rushing him to even have a chance and I don't see that happening. I'm just saying that once you throw a gas mask on your losing about 85% of your vision, factor in carrying a heavy load, low light and constant shooting into the mix and the shooter pretty much has lost all of his awareness. Rushing him would most likely be a one way trip, but again it's better than dropping a baby and running.

A footprint of what? 6000 rounds? Hell, probably half the people I know go through that kind of ammo in a couple of months. Short of him posting some manifesto or multiple posts et al of craziness, there may haven't have been anything. The higher the intelligence, the more organized the crimes. This guy was obviously intelligent and organized. You end up with stuff like the Unibomber and BTK. In both cases, they were only caught because a family member saw behind the curtain. I suspect it was very much the case with Holmes.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

    Just read these 44 pages.

PTSD sucks, and alot of these people are going to grapple with it for the rest of their lives.
My wife and I faced an aborted home invasion: a brick tossed through our sliding glass door at 3am. The inner pane didn't break, and the guy took off once the element of surprise was lost. It took a good two years before we stopped waking up in fear at every little sound. Today we don't wake up in fear, we just wake up.

I heard on 9 news he bought the 4 guns at Gander Mt and Bass Pro in the last 60 days, 2 of the most expensive gun shops(not important) and 6000rds online all legally. Oh great how does that look?
The hairdos are repeating this so much (i.e., 4 guns, X thousand rounds, all purchased legally) that I'm starting to get pissed off. This is not the problem and not the lesson to draw from this event.

That's the driving force that's going to clear the way for obummer getting re elected. He is going to start pushing hard for A.W.B's and the liberals are going to squeal with pleasure and bam its a done done deal.
With CO a swing state, you can bet this will play a role in securing CO for Obama. I'm not sure how well Romney can defend a pro-gun position in CO after this event.

All in all, a bad week or month for law abiding gun owners. I appeal to you all to follow all laws and not say things out of anger or frustration that play into the anti-2A crowd.
